Rope is the cheapest way into bondage and the hardest to fake your way through, which is why the material matters more than the color. This one is a 60% cotton, 40% polyester blend, twisted rather than braided, and it lands on the soft end of the range. It has enough tooth to hold a knot but enough give to sit comfortably against skin for a while.

Each pack is 10 meters, 32.8 feet, which is the standard single length for floor work. That is enough for a chest harness, a box tie, or a pair of wrist and ankle ties with rope left over. Most people who stay with it end up owning several packs, because two or three shorter lengths are more useful than one long one.

The 0.24-inch diameter is on the thinner side, which makes knots easier to tie and easier to pick apart when you are learning.

Educator's Note: Two things to be clear about before you start. First, this rope is for floor work only. A cotton-poly blend is not rated for suspension, and nothing you own should be holding a body off the ground unless you have trained for it with someone who knows rigging. Second, the real risk in rope is not rope burn, but nerve compression. The vulnerable spots are the inside of the upper arm, the outside of the knee, the wrist, and anywhere a wrap crosses a joint. Keep wraps wide and flat rather than thin and tight, spread tension across several passes instead of one, and never let a knot sit directly over a nerve or a joint. Check in on sensation, not just comfort: tingling, numbness, weakness, or a hand that cannot make a fist means untie now rather than at the end of the tie. Keep safety shears within arm's reach every single time, and never leave someone tied and alone. Start with wrists and ankles, and leave chest harnesses until after you have practiced.
