Our Story
Growing up, most of us got either nothing or the wrong thing when it came to sex ed. And somehow, that gap followed us straight into the sex toy aisle, where we were left googling "is this body-safe?" in a fluorescent-lit store while a stranger pretended not to watch.
That's the problem MOTHERLODE exists to solve.
MOTHERLODE is a curated pleasure product shop built on the belief that shopping for your body should feel like getting advice from a brilliant, knowledgeable friend, not a commission-hungry stranger. We're here to guide you to the good stuff, minus the overwhelm, the shame, and the mystery materials.

Our Background
MOTHERLODE was founded by Cady S. Moore (she/her), an AASECT-Certified Sexuality Educator with an M.P.H. in Maternal and Child Health and nearly a decade of experience in sex education, coaching, and community-centered sexual wellness work.
Every product in the shop has been evaluated through an educator's lens: body-safe materials, inclusive design, and real utility for real bodies. We stock products because they're good, not just because they're trendy.
MOTHERLODE is the retail arm of Age of Sexploration, a sex education and coaching platform based in Sacramento. The two work together: AOS gives you the why and the how. MOTHERLODE gives you the what. Together, they're built to support you through the full cycle of learning, exploring, trying, reflecting, and growing.

What We Believe
We believe pleasure is a legitimate part of health. We believe informed choices start with good information. And we believe the people who have been most underserved by the mainstream sex toy industry, queer folks, disabled folks, beginners, and people without prior access to quality sex ed, deserve a shop built with them in mind.
Every product description you read here includes an educational component, because knowing how something works and why it matters is part of the experience. We take body safety seriously. We take inclusion seriously. We take your pleasure seriously.

A Little More About Us
We're based in Sacramento, deeply rooted in queer community, and run by a neurodivergent, disabled sex educator who has been doing this work for nearly a decade. We show up to farmers markets, Pride events, and community mixers because we believe that access to good sex ed and good products shouldn't require a credit card and a private browser tab.
